An organic gem, pearls are created when an oyster covers a foreign object with layers called acre, or mother-of-pearl.
Since natural pearls are now rare, most of today’s pearls are produced using a grafting technique, where a shell bead is artificially inserted into the oyster (known as cultured pearls).
As pearls are natural organic gems, they can occur in a wide variety of colour and shapes. At VB Contemporary Jewellery Design, we have a passion for Baroque Pearls and their irregular shape, which makes them uniquely beautiful.
View pearls and baroque pearls in some examples of our exquisite contemporary designs of earrings, rings, pendants and broaches. Each piece is unique, simply because the shape and colour of each pearl can’t be replicated. Please contact us for further information or enquiries.
